Aw, the injustice ...and other news.

Water boarding has nothing on the torturous power of sticky tape.   Craig will literally kick and stomp his feet as people (usally nurses) attempt to pull tape from his body.  The kicking dates back to our childhood, when Diane would earn a sucker for every time she'd help hold him down by sitting on his legs.  (I think it'd look a bit awkward if we tried that now.)  And what of the evidence?  Try little patches of bare and bloodied skin and tape full of black hair.  Pity the nurse who tries to rip it off easy-breezy.  Boot to the mouth, I’m sure -- that is, to everyone except sergeant Mar-Mar.  I still have PTSD from the days of Nurse Mary and her blasted diamond wedding ring, which, unbeknownst to her, would scrape chunks of skin off at the slightest contact.  Mom's very much old school.  None of this, ‘oh I’m sorry, I know it hurts, here, I’ll go slow and rub alcohol to loosen the adhesive’.  Oh, uh uh.  She’d get her two fingers around an edge of a band-aid, and with a simple ‘hold still’, she’d tear that thing right off ,along with about 20 arm hairs.  Whammo!

In other news, Craig’s scheduled for a CAT scan in late April (around the 22/23 or so).  We’re continuing his meds as planned, but will add in a little coffee here and there to help with his energy.  He’s sleeping most of the day now, which is frustrating – he wishes he could be up-and-at-‘em like a few weeks ago. Hopefully, caffeine will do the trick.  He’s still vomiting, though down to 1 or 2 times a day now (from a high of 6 to 7).  It looks like he may have a rash from the Torisel, but it's not too bad; I’m giving him Benedryl to control it.  Other than that, he’s stable and ‘fit for travel’ should we need to head to Oklahoma.  He’ll be able to receive chemo/TPN there, so looks like we’re good to go whenever the time comes (probably in the next week or so). Just taking it one day at a time …  -- J
