Well, like clock-work, the tears were falling at the Lawler family household, but this time, they were tears of joy. Congratulations on the good news, A! You gave my mom one of the best Mother's Day presents yet! We're so happy for you, and look forward to hearing about the preps as they come along.
Congratulations again and we're giving ya a big hug from here!
With Love from the Lawler Family!

Thank you for the kind words regarding Alison's engagement. It was an exciting weekend. We thought we should set the scene for you to give a true imagery of their 'moment'. First, Alison's train was an hour and a half late which caused some stress because Alex was running late due to traffic. So, good news that he had time to change, buy some celebratory champagne and a dozen roses bofore popping the big question. Of course, my Mom was in tow the whole way. We are still shocked that she didn't bring her camera to catch the moment. Second, Alex was going to meet Alison in the train station, ask her to marry him, and then return to the parking lot for my Mother. Somehow, he missed her and Alison went out to my Mom's car and noticed Alex's parked next to it. Alison later said that she found that peculiar. Alex had to catch up to her in the parking lot. This is where it gets good. The Kalamazoo train station is in the hood. It is not a place you want to hang out alone after dark. So, as fate would have it, they had an audience. Except this was not your typical bystander. It was a bum. According to Alex, as he was on his knee, their new friend said (paraphrasing): "Oh ya.....I see dat......I see dat.......oh ya.......un hunh......un hunh........I see dat!" Then, as Alex and Alison were trying to have an emotional, personal moment......guess who was standing right there creating the world's worst buzz kill. Alex said he had to motion with his hand to get my Mom to back away while they played tonsil hockey. Just what you want, your future mother in-law watching you exchange spit with her precious daughter. Classic. Hope that helps set the scene.
ReplyDeleteThat's hilarious and quite memorable! Future bedtime story to tell the kids, right? ;0) Hey, maybe the bum could be a groomsman!!
ReplyDeleteYeahhhh for Alison and Alex!!!! Alex is just the type of guy you would want to join your family. I'm so happy for Alison and Alex; the Osmuns; and the extended family.
Way to go Alison and Alex, glad we had a chance to meet Alex when at your Mom's. Best of luck to both of you from Uncle Bruce, Aunt Deb and the kids.
