Midnight at the Oasis, Send Your Camel[s] to Bed

"Let's try to go to bed early tonight, okay". {time elapses} "We should really start thinking about heading to bed soon".  {....an hour later.}  "Okay, TVs off". {still more time passes} "oh my goooodddd, folks, it's MIDNIGHT!!!" (said in a you have GOT to be kidding me voice, as in at exactly what point did I become more lame than my retiree parents who seemed to have more stamina near the bewitching hour than in the day!)

Of course, mom took the cue not necessarily to go to bed but to launch into a solo of midnight at the oaaa---siiiis. da da ba da ba daaaa (not remembering the words but still singing in her best falsetto). lawlers don't leave one another hanging, certainly not when a sing-along presents itself! dad and i promptly joined chorus with our own off-tune, few notes shy of a dog whistle singing. midnight at the oaa-ssiss. put your...err, send your...errr, wait what are the lyrics??? i swayed melodramatically, bee-bopping to our Grammy winning rendition, relishing in the little oasis from "our reality" we had created and forgetting entirely that it was now passed midnight!!!

A little later, I finally sent the camel[s] to bed...
